When it comes to , Google is indeed the master of the game. But by late summer, Blekko will come to the scene. Will this be Google’s next big rival? That remains to be seen.

Blekko is a full web search engine, with regular crawls of billions of web pages. They are differentiating themselves from Google in another way. The search engine will give the users tools to do new types of searches that they can’t do elsewhere. The distinguished feature here is the called Slahstags. These tools will make every search queries simple to easily filter results. Users can even create their own slashtags based on a group of URLs. The creators of search engine also let users to search via a variety of APIs like /amazon or /twitter.

Users who love Google search engine will instantly like Blekko. It’s much quicker than using the “site:” modifiers on Google. And there are some searches that you can do on Blekko that you can’t do on other search engines. Since Blekko works just like the other search engines, the founders think the less advance users will like it too. Users will quickly get comfortable creating and using slashtags. The engine is also transparent. It shows the inbound links, duplicated content and included metadata for any domain in their index.

Founders and and and the rest of their team are working on Blekko for two and a half years now. It’s still in private alpha but it will be available for few beta testers soon.
