Sporting minor tweaks and some big changes in its design and capability, here comes the third generation of the Amazon's portable reading device, its best-selling product by far, simply called the Kindle. Read on because you may find something that you will love (or hate, whichever is your inclination) in the iterations made by Amazon to the device.

Calling all e-book enthusiasts! The new generation of has arrived. It is the third of its kind and wanted to keep it simple. Let’s start off with the big changes that come in with the new Kindle. The lighter and smaller hand held device highlights a faster refresh rate on its E Ink screen, the same 6-inch screen that its two early models have. Sporting a new color, graphite, in addition to the orginal white, the device has two configurations which you can choose from: the WiFi only version that costs $139, or the 3G version that hits $189. Its memory now runs up to 4GB, while its battery runs for a month without wireless, and 10 days with wireless turned on.

Aside from these and the snappy page-turning and high contrast features, the underwent minor improvements. Notice the slight change in the keyboard? It has been made compact, as well as the rocker, and the forward buttons are now longer than the back buttons. There is an additional “experimental” Webkit-based browser.

And still, Kindle offers the same large selection of the most preferred and popular books by readers. With all the tweaks coming along with the portable reading device on August 27, here is something that Amazon’s Jeff Bezos says the company is not integrating to its device: “For the vast majority of books, adding video and animation is not going to be helpful. It is distracting rather than enhancing. You are not going to improve Hemingway by adding video snippets,” adding later, “there are going to be 100 companies making LCD [screen] tablets… why would we want to be 101? I like building a purpose-built reading device. I think that is where we can make a real contribution.”
