Epix will Provide Movie Stream for Netflix

In case Netflix and Epix agrees, online users will soon enjoy movie stream for the next five years. Flicks from Paramount, MGM and Lionsgate will soon be provided by Epix on Netflix.
Netflix is making a billion dollar deal with Epix to have the rights to stream freshly released movies from Lionsgate, MGM and Paramount. According to The Los Angeles Times, the deal has been discussed for months now, but still facing some complications. One of these is the fact that cable providers is less likely to carry Epix. However, they can do well in betting on online media instead of traditional cable. The LA Times claims that the deal will last for five years should it push through.
The agreement can help Epix break even on 2011 and cling to movie studio’s option to sell and rent their films on iTunes — even as they’re showing on Epix. This is the type of option that HBO, a competing movie channel, does not provide to its partners. Whether or not all titles available on Epix will also be on Netflix is not yet clear. Iron Man, Star Trek, Saw VI, The Cove and Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark are the films currently on Epix.
