Rumor alert! Android smartphone users has something to wait for from Netflix. The video streaming website is creating an application that can run on any handset powered by Android. But it's definitely a long wait.

An employee and an online job listing confirmed that is creating a app for smartphones. According to the job post, the company is looking for an “ Video Playback Expert.” Part of the job description states that Netflix is looking for an engineer that can help them create Instant client implementations on Android devices. With at least 10 years of development experience, and has already implemented video playback in an Android app.

Experience with digital rights management and other application platform, like iPhone or iPad, is a plus. This notable pluses implies that Netflix will use their former creation for the iPad and iPhone. The Next Web notes that there is already a Netflix app for Android, but it’s not yet official. This unofficial app eats up the any handset’s battery and displays a lot of adverts. Therefore, it’s not likely to be desirable to any Android-running smartphone users.

To support this rumor, a Reddit user claiming to be an employee in Netflix posted in a comment:

“I just know we’re actively hiring Android devs. I wish I knew more about a timeframe for you. Good things come to those who wait. Netflix is essentially a tech company and with the way Android is blowing up it would be stupid of us to ignore that.”

It stands to reason that the application is still ages away, since the company is still looking for a senior architect for the app. If you think waiting long enough is worth it, tell us by leaving a comment.
