"The Social Network"--is it not Facebook? No, it is a movie. But it is also a yes, because director David Fincher is telling the tale of no less than the social network, Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook.

Columbia Pictures has cooked up something socially relevant, interesting as well as intriguing (if you have not read the book), in the film depiction of The Accidental Billionaires–the story of Facebook. Fincher directs and leads the cast as he dons the imaginary geek cap and writes formulas on windows, like the geek who started it all.

More interesting than that is the launching of the movie’s official website, It is based on the tagline, “You don’t get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies.” And words like Punk, Traitor and Genius find their way on the Facebook-themed site. Photos, videos and cast bios are woven into one collage as large as the browser frame. They load and appear like Facebook profiles. A brilliant overlay design is also used for menu links.

This theme is one with that of the trailers, teasers and short TV spots. is coming out to cinemas on October 1.

We are tossing in an additional for all of you. After visiting the site, hit play to run the full trailer here. (Video: Courtesy of Yahoo!)
