At the eve of the first generation Android tablet launch, Google waves a red flag. Android 2.2 (Froyo) is not up for the job, admits the Director of Products for Mobile Hugo Barra.

is set to hit the shelves tomorrow, September 16, and previews have been pretty positive. sounds fine with Samsung. So why is having problems with the others?

It seems that the issue roots from Google’s Compatibility Definition whose document details out: “Hardware must have a rear-facing camera, GPS, a 3-axis compass, 3-axis accelerometer, and more.” If a hardware piece does not comply, Google will not allow an Market for it.

The Tab’s difference among the rest is that it comes out as a big smartphone, implying that it fulfills all the compatibility requirements from Google. But as all with the others, it will run Android apps similar to running iPhone apps on the iPad. With the anticipation that is arriving with the holiday season, consumers must be wary of what Android-based tablet should they buy and, probably, hopefully wait for the next generation of to come.
