It is the final curtain call for the Bloglines.

We are very sorry for this news. Ask.com informed us that is shutting down on October 1. This wouldn’t be an easy decision with the patient people behind it.

The web-based reader and news aggregation Bloglines will be dissolved because of the dominance of social media sites like Twitter and Facebook.

RSS “pushes” website updates to readers around the globe so there’s no need for them to search and refresh the site. It was a game changer when it was born in 2005. Ask.com acquired Bloglines from its founder Mark Fletcher. The popularity soon fade away when social networking sites Twitter, StumbleUpon, Digg and Facebook came. These sites eventually replaced the former feeder.

Users are now following the favorite websites on Facebook and Twitter.“RSS aggregator usage has slowed significantly,” an Ask.com rep said in a blog post yesterday. “Bloglines isn’t the only service to feel the impact. The writing is on the wall.”

Bloglines will remain operational until October 1, you have atleast 3 weeks to export your feeds to another RSS app such as . added social features to the app for RSS.
