Google Sees the Potential of Shweeb

Suspended high above the ground, this bicycle-powered plastic tubes can move as fast as 45km/h. Shweeb is definitely the future of transportation.
Shweeb is a new form of transportation that is set to conquer the future. It is a vehicle similar to a bike that will transport people to nearby places. The people riding the Shweeb needs to paddle to get to their destination. Each plastic tube is attached upside down to a rail. Seeing its potential, Google invested a whooping $1.05 million for this technology.
The Shweeb was conceptualized by Melbourne cyclist Geoff Barnett while he was in Tokyo. After several years of research, he set up the 200m cycle track in Rotorua, New Zealand. In 2007, he opened up the system for the public to experience “adrenalin-fueled” adventure. Since then, the Shweeb has been a big hit among tourists.
Shweeb caught Google’s interest when the search engine giant organized Project 10100. This is a program which aims to find solutions to make the world a better place. Over 150,00 entries were received and Shweeb was part of the top five.
