Microsoft's blogging and Social Networking platform, Live Spaces, is now moving its 30 million active users to a front-end that is based on free software publishing tool -- WordPress. Now that's something!

’s homegrown blogging platform, , will have a huge boost as the company announced yesterday its partnership with . It weaves together Live Spaces and , enabling direct post of contents from Windows Live and cross-posting content on a user’s Windows Live profile.

According to an official announcement from Microsoft:

“WordPress powers over 8.5% of the web, is used on over 26 million sites, and is seen by over 250 million people every month. So rather than having Windows Live invest in a competing blogging service, we decided the best thing we could do for our customers was to give them a great blogging solution through”

However, it is likely that Microsoft is trying to drive more users to its online software suite. With the Windows Live Connect features used to sync content from existing accounts, it is feasible that a percentage of’s massive audience will start using Microsoft services in the future.

And albeit it is an interesting dynamic to ponder on, whatever Google and Blogger’s reaction to the new partnership remains to be seen
