NASA Feeds Provide a Backdrop to the Quantum Quest Film

As seven NASA missions traverse space dimensions, their collective footage touches aground. Their landing site: the set of a movie called Quantum Quest.

The feeds come from ongoing NASA space travels to the scenes of : A Cassini Space Odyssey, which will debut on Saturday at the DragonCon sc-fi convention in Atlanta.

This 3-D animated sci-fi employs the footage as a backdrop, which makes for hyper-realistic scenes. Aside from these elements in the film, Quantum producer Harry Kloor has also enlisted a star-powered cast: , , , , James Earl Jones and , and then this, and feature actress .

Kloor says on having the astronaut on the film: “When I asked Neil if he wanted to promote science to the public through a science fiction film as a means to reach all those people who shy away from traditional science and educational or edutainment films, he read the script and liked the approach.”

Kloor is the writer and co-director of Quantum Quest: A Cassini Space Odyssey, which will come out on large-format 3-D theaters in late 2010.
