"It's time to turn the page." -President Obama

formally puts an end to the U.S. combat role in Iraq last Tuesday night. It has been seven long years of blood, explosives and war. He said that America must focus instead in fixing its poor economy.

It was inside the Oval Office when Obama addressed millions of people and said that United States “has paid a huge price” to provide Iraqis a bright future. This price includes thousand of lives wasted and wounded plus billions of cash spent on ammunitions.

Obama made this decision upon seeing the signs of troubles burdening the country. He wanted to push more efforts to solve the increasing joblessness in the U.S. He said that Iraq war peeled Americans of their economic commitment.

It might be the end of war on America’s side, but as for Iraq, it does not just end here. The country is still recovering from the impacts of war. The Iraqis are still facing political and social instabilities.

To give remedy to this problem, Obama is keeping more or less 50,000 troops in Iraq for continuous support to the locals until the end of 2011.
