Chinese Activist Receives Nobel Peace Prize

His peaceful and gradual effort to achieve political change in China made Liu Xiaobo the most eligible person to received the highly-regarded Nobel Peace Prize.

The prestigious 2010 was awarded to imprisoned today forĀ  “his long and nonviolent struggle for fundamental human rights.” However, this award might trigger more issues as the Chinese government warned the Nobel Committee not to honor Liu.

Thorbjoern Jagland, the Norwegian Nobel Committee chairman, said that Liu Xiaobo was a symbol for the fight to protect the human rights in a country who is very powerful in the fields of economy and politics.

The 54-year-old Nobel Peace Price recipient co-authored the document called Charter 08. This paper aims to democratize Chinese politics which is dominated by the Communist party until now.
