Google eBookstore is Now Available

Move over iBookstore, Google's eBookstore is here! Today is the official release of the long been rumored Google eBookstore that made all people wait. But as they say, it surely is worth it.

Today marks the opening of a new chapter in ’s mission to access the cultural and educational treasures of life — Books. is now available in the United States in . This will give users full access through the largest eBooks collection all over the world. More than three million book titles with hundreds and thousands of them for sale.

What made Google different form eBookstores available in the market today, is that they impose to everyone that Google eBooks is not exclusive for Android and Android alone. Unlike the Apple’s iBookstore which is solely created for iOS devices, Google eBookstore hosts all the available platforms from Android to Sony to Apple devices, except Kindle (which blocked Google eBooks recently). A competitive edge of Google, and making them a notch higher than iBookstore, is the fact that they are compatible to a laptop, PC, tablet and Mac. Amazing isn’t it?

Google said on their blog that:

“We designed Google eBooks to be open. Many devices are compatible with Google eBooks—everything from laptops to netbooks to tablets to smartphones to e-readers. With the new Google eBooks Web Reader, you can buy, store and read Google eBooks in the cloud. That means you can access your ebooks like you would messages in Gmail or photos in Picasa—using a free, password-protected Google account with unlimited ebooks storage.”

Google also tied the knot with major booksellers like Powell’s and Alibris, and would soon give access to their customers on Google eBooks directly. Plus, Google also released app in the Apple App Store which goes compatible with the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. Take note that Apple devices should be running at iOS 3.0 and up to use it.
