The social networking site just acquired the fb.com from the Farm Bureau for $8.5 million. In addition to this, Facebook users will have the new profile design in the coming days -- take it or leave it.

As reported by Reuters, Facebook paid $8.5 million for the fb.com domain from the American Federation. It will be remembered last year that Facebook launched its remodeled messaging service. In the process, the social networking site offered the facebook.com email address to its users. The purchased fb.com will be used by Facebook for employee email addresses. As for the Farm Bureau, they have fb.org as their new home on the net.

In addition with Facebook’s alternate domain, the network introduced the new profile layout to its users a month ago. During that time, Facebook users can opt-in to change their profile with the new design. But it seems that the update will be pushed to all users in the coming days, whether they like it or not.
