“A mysterious package has arrived, and the creature inside has only one request…CANDY! Help get the candy to Om Nom, the adorable monster, in this highly innovative and addictive puzzle game. Combining outstanding physics, devilishly tricky levels, and bright colorful visuals, is one of the most original and fun-filled on the App Store.”

The iPhone is not just for music or podcast or texting or making calls; it’s also created for you to have fun especially in the most awkward and boring situations. For one thing, the iPhone can actually act as a great gaming device. Other than your regular apps, the iPhone App Store is also packed with games ranging from strategy to adventure, to educational or for adults only. But there will always be one of those apps where it will make you go crazy. Our best bet? — Cut The Rope.

AllWeLike’s App of the Week goes to Chillingo and Zeptolab’s Cut The Rope. A unique iPhone game that gives a full twist to Fruit Ninja. With an amazing mixture of gameplay and game physics, it’s really a fun filled game where even the mighty once bowed to it in terms of download hits. Cut The Rope was once spotted as the No.1 Paid Game in the App Store, and that’s saying something.

Game Play

The Game premise? Using your finger,  you slice the swinging elastic ropes attached to a piece of candy so you can feed it to Om Nom, the monster, but be warned that you must slice the ropes once they swing towards Omnom’s mouth. There are also stars to catch here, three each level, but your main goal is still to feed Omnom.

The game gets tougher later on as villains will appear and try to steal Om Nom’s candy. Each level requires a unique strategy that you will have to figure out on the way.

There will be times that you’ll need to study the course of the rope and the behavior of obstacles/enemies before aiming. Sometimes the rope’s swing depends on the timing. Wrong timing equals wrong move, so be very careful before you slide your fingers.

The graphics are quite good. Seeing Om Nom’s cute eyes staring at you intently as if encouraging you to think hard before you slice. If you sliced the wrong rope, the candy will slip and sometimes eaten by the villains, so focus is key. Graphics and game sensitivity is awesome so the only way you’ll screw up is when you don’t know what you’re doing.

If you haven’t tried the app and you don’t want to invest on it yet, you can always download the lite version. However you can only play the first stage of the game. The second, third and fourth will only be available if you purchased the full version. The full version costs $.99 dollars only. No big deal. If you enjoyed Angry Birds you’ll definitely enjoy Cut the Rope.
