"At my request, the board of directors has granted me a medical leave of absence so I can focus on my health." ---Steve Jobs, Apple CEO

’s CEO and big boss Steve Jobs once again took a leave of absence from the company due to medical reasons.

Jobs, who took a leave during the first six months of 2009 for a liver transplant sent the following email to his staff. Here’s the exact email written by Jobs:

Team,

At my request, the board of directors has granted me a medical leave of absence so I can focus on my health. I will continue as CEO and be involved in major strategic decisions  for the company.

I have asked to be responsible for all of Apple’s day to day operations. I have great confidence that Tim and the rest of the executive management team will do a terrific job executing the exciting plans we have in place for 2011.

I love Apple so much and hope to be back as soon as I can. In the meantime, my family and I would deeply appreciate respect for our privacy.

Steve

It was also Tim Cook, Apple’s COO, who took over when Jobs took a leave in 2009. Since 2009, the health of Jobs and Apple’s succession plan for its iconic founder became a major topic of discussion. We do hope that Jobs will get well soon since this is a big bump to the company.
