Facebook Includes ‘Civil Union,’ ‘Domestic Partnership’ to Relationship Status

As a sign of respect to all kinds of companionship, Facebook includes two relationship status options that many will surely 'Like.’

Starting today, Facebook rolls out two new relationship status which are: “in a civil union” and “in a domestic partnership.” This alteration on the profiles are now available in the U.S., Canada, U.K. and Australia.

Facebook’s manager of public policy communications, Andrew Noyes, said that this feature are highly requested by users. “We want to provide options for people to genuinely and authentically reflect their relationships on Facebook,” he added.

Michael Cole-Schwartz, spokesperson for the Human Rights Campaign which Facebook consulted when this change was made said that, “Facebook has been a company that has tried to be inclusive of the LGBT community and this just one sign of it.”
