WikiLeaks Made it as a Nobel Peace Prize Nominee

A legislator from Norway believed that WikiLeaks' strategy of revealing the skeletons from the governments’ closets will be the way to world peace.

A lawmaker form Norway nominated the controversial WikiLeaks for the 2011 Nobel Peace. The lawmaker is  , a legislator from  Norway’s Socialist Left Party. He said that Wikileaks’ way of exposing classified documents will help in the achievement of world peace by putting the blame of wrong deeds to the governments.

Valen filed the nomination on the last day of submitting nomination. “I think it is important to raise a debate about freedom of expression and that truth is always the first casualty in war. WikiLeaks wants to make governments accountable for their actions and that contributes to peace,” he said.

The legislator also made the announcement about the nomination on his blog. He compared WikiLeaks to the previous Nobel winner Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo. He thought that these two advanced the advocacy for human right s and liberty.

The Nobel Committee usually receives more than 200 nominations but the actual list of candidates is not revealed to the public. The winner will be announced in October.
