AT&T is now the largest wireless telecommunications company, after its acquisition of T-Mobile USA.

just recently acquired USA from its parent company, , for approximately $39 billion in a cash-and-stock transaction. This makes AT&T the largest wireless company in the USA, enabling to improve network quality for both companies’ customers and expanding its / roll-out to 95% of the US population. In addition to this, AT&T also pointed out that the roll-out would help achieve Pres. Barrack Obama and FCC’s goal to connect every part of USA to the digital age.

But Forrester Research Analysts, Charles Golvin, cautions the public that the news is not all rosy:

β€œAT&T’s acquisition of T-Mobile, if approved, brings good news and bad news. The good news: high-speed mobile service will improve in quality and coverage, including β€” in the long run β€” those in rural communities outside the reach of terrestrial today. The bad news: the cost of that service won’t come down nearly as fast as customers would like, since AT&T and Verizon Wireless combined would own nearly three out of every four wireless subscriptions in the US. While clearly troublesome for Sprint and other mobile smaller mobile competitors, It’s also bad news for cable operators, whose incipient mobility products will suffer in comparison to what AT&T and Verizon can offer.”

Regardless, T-Mobile customers’ only concern is to know whether the deal can make them have the iPhone too. Unfortunately, there’s no word on that just yet.
