Many fans remember him as . The Hogwarts student who died in the hands of Voldemort. Though he had only a short time to share to people his acting talent, he came back into the mainstream with a bigger name and a more popular character to fill in.

He made his debut as a lead character after in the character of Edward. left all the memories of wizardry school behind, and faced the world of vampires and werewolves with all his might.

Before Cedric and Edward, there was Robert

Robert Douglas Thomas Pattinson was born on May 13, 1986 in London to parents Claire and Richard Pattinson. His mother works for a modeling agency while his father’s in the vintage card business. At a young age, there’s a small spark of acting in the mind of young Rob. He was involved in an amateur theater through Barnes Theatre Club. His acting skills caught the attention of an acting agent in a production of Tess of the D’Urbervilles, and began looking for professional roles.

This paved his way for a role in an amateur version of Macbeth at the Old Sorting Office Arts Centre. At the age of 12, he tried his luck in modeling wherein he was credited as Robert Thomas-Pattinson.

Meets Cedric Diggory

Rob landed supporting roles for the TV film, Ring of the Nibelungs (2004), and in director Mira Nair’s 2004 Vanity Fair. In 2005, the break came to him when he was chosen to play Cedric Diggory in the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Consequently, he was then named as British Star of Tomorrow by Times Online. He was even christened as the next Jude Law.

The Beginning of the Saga

After getting his character killed in Goblet of Fire, Rob came back into the big screen via the film adaptation of the book series, .  He played the character of who fell in love with a mortal named . Actress plays the character of Bella. According to TV Guide, Rob was first apprehensive in trying out for the role of Edward Cullen, quite doubtful he might not live up to the “perfection” expected for the character. From Twilight to Spotlight

Since his remarkable appearance in the Twilight films, he earned the support of many fans.  He was even named as one of the “Sexiest Men Alive” in 2008 and 2009 by People and Glamour magazine.

In 2010, Britain’s The Sunday Times put him on the list of young millionaires in UK. He was named by Times magazine as on of 2010’s 100 Most Influential People in The World and one of the most powerful celebrities in the world by Forbes Magazine.

From Bella to Kristen’s Heart

Aside for Hollywood fame, Pattinson also won the heart of his co-star, Kristen Stewart. They’ve admitted their special friendship and are currently enjoying shooting the last installment of the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn, which will be released in a two-part version.

Rob Pattinson’s claim to fame is a truly an extraordinary story.
