Microsoft Bids Goodbye to Zune Players

R.I.P. Zune. You'll always be remembered.
For Microsoft, no more Zune devices in the future. But worry not, Zune will still live as software of future smartphones from the company.
Microsoft declined to comment on the future of Zune, but a statement to Bloomberg said that it remains “committed to supporting our devices in North America.”
Zune was born in the last quarter of 2006 with the goal of smashing Apple’s iPod. Unfortunately, the device did not reach the target sales levels and the iPod stayed on top of it all.
In the year 2009, the company decided to separate the Zune team into software and hardware divisions. They attempted to get developers to target the platform but the plan didn’t worked out. Zune Marketplace support for the fast-selling console Xbox 360. However, it zoomed no more than that.
According to Bloomberg, MS will continue to put Zune features to Windows Phone 7 devices and desktops. Zune will always be remembered for attempting to overthrow iPod.
