New iOS 4.3 Code Hints a Dual-Core Processor for the Next iPhone?

Is it possible that the next iPhone will sport a dual-core processor?

Apple just released the latest operating system for their devices and the savvy coders from Chronic Dev found interesting leads for the next iPhone.

The coders found signs that Apple may be testing dual-core processors for the next generation of their iPhone. The iPad 2 is the first to ship with the , the dual-core successor of . The processor was introduced to consumers on iPad, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4 and Apple TV.

Chronic Dev’s member and iOS developer Filippo Bigarella found mention of the code: “.” A code name that signifies a soon-to-be-released iPhone based on past device code names. The was linked up to “,” the name for the A5 within the iOS code.

Is this a sign that the next iPhone will carry a ?
