Sony Ericsson has just released another update for its Xperia X10, but it's not the Gingerbread release everyone was hoping for.

just released another firmware for its , bringing in a number of major changes in the handset. However, it is not the release that everybody was anticipating for.

The update version 2.1.B.0.1 claims to boost screen responsiveness and general performance. It includes new baseband, which strengthens the signal and in-call sound quality. The package also makes switching from 2G to 3G network even faster, and initiating calls take shorter time. A change in battery is also noticeable, although some claims that it’s for the better while others refute it. The update also enables voice integration to almost anywhere it is necessary.

But the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play X10’s major change is its system-wide availability of multi-touch. When it comes to the visual side of things, there were minor tweaks with the notification area, dialer pad and status bar. New animations also appear around the interface which seem smoother. Moreover, Hackers won’t be losing the control over their system, since the rooting solution from previous ROMs are compatible with the new one.

You can visit XDA-developers’ forum to find the instructions on how to update your Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, just in case the update is not available in your area. But make sure that you know what you’re doing before feeding your handset with the firmware update.
