Two months after an earthquake and tsunami hit Japan, and more than a week after the PSN hack, Sony will resume its Blu-ray production later this month.

Following the Japan earthquake and tsunami that hit the country last March, several production industries in the tech hub were disrupted or shutdown. But two months after the cataclysmic event, consumer electronics company – – said that it will open its production plant in the latter parts of May. The company released a statement this week, pointing out that nine out of its ten production sites were operational again.

“Optical disk manufacturing operations, including Blu-ray, are expected to resume around the end of May 2011, and magnetic tape manufacturing operations are expected to resume around the end of July 2011.”

“Manufacturing of other products and components previously carried out at the Tagajyo Plant will be transferred to Sony’s core manufacturing facilities for these products and components located in Miyagi, Fukushima and other prefectures, in order to quickly restore full production capacity.”

To date, Sony has a terrible year, not just because of the recent Japan earthquake and tsunami, but also of the recent issues. On a positive note, at least the production for Sony Blu-ray will resume soon.
