YouTube Turns 6!

Six years ago, three former employees of PayPal created a website that changed the world of sharing videos online. YouTube had come long way from just one of the few websites that lets people upload upload videos for public viewing to a billion-dollar online company.

YouTube celebrates its birthday with a short message to its avid users: “Back in November we challenged you to up the volume of videos you uploaded to the site.  And boy, did you take the bait.  Today, more than 48 hours (two days’ worth) of video are uploaded to the site every minute, a 37% increase over the last six months and 100% over last year.”

Together with this, YouTube also released an infographic showing their impressive achievements. Last weekend, the site hit the 3 billion views per day mark. That’s 50% increase from last year.
