Athletes, Free to Tweet During 2012 Olympic Games

Athletes that will be competing in the 2012 Olympic Games in London are allowed to tweet their experience in the event. However, there are certain guidelines to follow.

Based on the announcement of , athletes who will be competing at the upcoming 2012 in are free to tweet during the competition. Olympic Committee (AOC) are encouraging athletes to share their experience to others through social media. As long as the tweets, post and blogs are not for commercial uses.

However, users on the event must follow certain rules in posting and tweeting. They must not use vulgar words, use first person and diary type formats. Above all, they must not report on events in the journalist’s manner. But accredited media may use social media platforms for reporting purposes.

On the other hand, uploading photos taken from the event is permitted, as long as it will not be sold or distributed it in other ways. On the last Olympic games that was held in Beijing in 2008, taking pictures and photos are prohibited inside the venues. Meanwhile broadcasting in audio and video format is still prohibited in the 2012 London Olympic Games. Violation of could result on getting banned for the rest of competition.
