Facebook: Facial Recognition for Tagging a Default Feature

Since many Facebook users love to tag their pictures, the website has been rolling out a facial recognition feature that makes it easier for users to tag their friends. This feature has been introduced as a default setting.

On the whole, will use its facial recognition technology to group similar faces together and automatically suggest the friend you should them with whenever you’re offered the chance to groups of your friends in a certain album.

The tag option has been rolling out to international users over the past few months now. According to , Facebook has been making the facial recognition feature a default setting.

For users who do not want Facebook to suggest you when your friends go tagging everyone in a photo that you really wouldn’t like to be tagged to, do the following:

1. Go to privacy settings.

2. Click “Customize settings.”

3. Scroll down to “Things others share.”

4. Find “Suggest of me to friends.”

5. Edit accordingly.

Again, there are a number of privacy-focused users getting upset about the option being turned on without their consent. And this isn’t the first time Facebook has turned on a feature without users knowing.
