After managing a press office at the White House during the time of President Bill Clinton, former press secretary Joe Lockhart takes on the challenge of managing the communication group of a social networking site.
Facebook has announced that they hired Joe Lockhart, President Bill Clinton’s former press secretary, as their new vice president of global communications.
Lockhart will be managing the company’s Corporate, Policy and International communications teams said by a Facebook spokesperson.
Lockhart, with a lot of communication experiences and skill that he obtain during the time of Clinton will bring new skills and greater depth to the Facebook’s incredibly busy team as Elliot Schrage, Facebook VP of Global Communications, Marketing and Public Policy said. Schrage also added in a statement that Lockhart’s experience as the 22nd White House Press Secretary from August 1998 to September 2000 where he defended President Clinton during the impeachment trials gives him a specific appreciation for the demands of a world-wide 24-hour news cycle and the task to respond effectively to intense scrutiny.
Lockhart will be added to the communication muscle of Facebook that lacks staff for a year since the former director of corporate communications Brandee Barker left the company to start his own consulting firm.
