It’s not for cheap publicity but an act of gratitude.

A small village in India renamed its town into a very unusual name, Nagar (nagar means town). is an online coupon merchant that gathered $12million worth of fund and led the Groupon in India.

However, the stunt of renaming the town was not for cheap advertisement but a way of the villagers to thank Snapdeal.com for providing them with water facilities. The company installed manual pumps in the village to provide clean drinking for the people.

Snapdeal.com mentioned that this is one of the many steps the company aims to take since they want to build a socially responsible organization.
