Twitter Releases their Official Link Shortening Service

Finally, Twitter realizes the need for a link shortening tool.

Condensing links to fit in with your 140-character tweets is a common thing in Twitter and websites like and have been on the business for quite some time now.

Last week, Twitter rolled out their auto-link shortening feature. Just add the link with your tweet and when you hit the “Tweet” button, the link will eat up only 19 characters.

Twitter users will still be allowed to use third-party shortening services. And in case shortened links lead to malicious content, a warning page will appear first.
