What Lies Ahead for the next Xbox and PS4?

According to programming legend, John Carmack, the next Xbox and PlayStation 4 will be ten times more powerful than the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. He also added that Microsoft and Sony’s respective home gaming consoles will hit the shelves ‘in a couple of years’.
This week, reports suggested that Microsoft will unveil its next Xbox at E3 2012, while they are working for a 2013 release. On the other hand, Sony will continue to push its ten-year life cycle prediction for the PlayStation 3. Regardless, John Carmack said that the next gaming consoles will give game creators a tough challenge: What will they do have an outstanding graphics?
“The better games get the harder you have to go to give a delta people care about. That’s going to be a challenge for the next-generation of consoles, to show what pack-in title is going to look so much more awesome than what you get on the current ones that people want to go spend $300 on a new console.
“They’ll be able to do it on the next generation, but it’s going to be much harder.”
