ACER Iconia Tab A100, Coming This August

ACER will be releasing the Iconia Tab A100 in US earlier than expected at around $300.
ACER retail channels are being told that the Iconia A100 will hit the US earlier than expected. The said device, which is a 7-inch Android 3.2 tablet, is now set to launch in early August and will cost well below the 10-inch A500, at $300. It still includes Tegra 2 processor, smaller screen, and it will pare back the storage to 8GB and half the RAM to 512MB.
The Taiwan developer wanted the A100 release by May, but had to do so by shoehorning Android 3.0 into a non-native resolution. It discovered that the user interface had to be optimized, ultimately resulting to wait for Android 3.2.
Two low-end Windows 7 notebooks should arrive at the same period: The 15.6-inch Aspire 5750Z, that will be around $475 because of its use of a Pentium processor, even if it will have 4GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive; and a larger cousin of Aspire will follow, the 17.3-inch 7739Z that may cost the same with similar performance.
