Google will now be using its search results pages to warn people about a recently identified form of malware.

Browsing through the web is said to be the easiest way to access instant information. That said, these open searches have undeniably been the cause of such viruses and Trojan horses that could damage your computer. Recently, giant – – found a piece of that’s generating unusual traffic to its servers. The company immediately responded to the attack by warning all of its users.

According to a blog written by security engineer, Damian Menscher:

“Recently, we found some unusual search traffic while performing routine maintenance on one of our data centers. After collaborating with security engineers at several companies that were sending this modified traffic, we determined that the computers exhibiting this behavior were infected with a particular strain of malicious software.”

“This particular malware causes infected computers to send traffic to Google through a small number of intermediary servers called ‘proxies.’ We hope that by taking steps to notify users whose traffic is coming through these proxies, we can help them update their antivirus software and remove the infections.”

The said malware had already damaged few Google users. So before the problem gets worst, the company then proposed an action that could prevent such attacks. Google, as announced, will be showing a “prominent notification” sign at the top of the search results, which is a sign of caution for users who are believed to be affected by the malware.

Perhaps this would be the first time for Google to use their search engine as a platform for giving warnings to its users, although way back in 2009, the company had accidentally noted all websites as harmful.
