Microsoft Apologizes for Their Remembering Amy Winehouse Tweet

Microsoft apologizes to Amy Winehouse's fans for their tweet that seems to be purely commercially motivated.
After tweeting through their account for Xbox to remember the recently deceased musician – Amy Winehouse – by buying her last album at Zune, the company received multiple Twitter flak.
After an hour of retweets along with comments such as “classy,” “crass much?” and “Microsoft- failing at social media,” the company followed their earlier tweet: “Apologies to everyone if our earlier Amy Winehouse ‘download’ tweet seemed purely commercially motivated,” it said. “Far from the case, we assure you.”
Meanwhile, Microsoft isn’t the only company that was criticized for trying to make profit on Amy Winehouse’s death. Apple posted an image of Winehouse on the front of their iTunes store with a caption that says “remembering Amy Winehouse.” Her breakout album, the Grammy winning – Back to Black – has subsequently become the number one album in the store. While Amazon also posted a brief obituary that has a link to a page where fans can buy the singer’s album.
The sales of Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black album increased 37 times since her death.
