Apple and Samsung Dominates Smartphone Market

Apple and Samsung Electronics edged out Nokia, dominating the global smartphone market share for the second quarter of 2011.
Apple and Samsung Electronics out pointed Nokia in the global smartphone market for the Q2 of 2011, Strategy Analytics reported last Sunday. Apple claimed an 18.5% share in the market, with sales of up to 20.3 million iPhones. Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics takes the number two spot with 17.5% of market share. The company sold 19.2 million units.
On the other hand, Nokia’s sales plummet to 16.7 million handsets in second quarter of the year. Last year, the Finnish mobile phone company shipped 23.8 million units, claiming 38.1% of the global smartphone market share.
