Lenovo IdeaPad S100 with MeeGo, Now Available in Europe for €180

Lenovo's Linux-based MeeGo OS netbook goes on sale in European markets!

has just announced that its current-generation netbook, the , is now available on all European markets. The device is said to be the manufacturer’s first netbook to run on -based, - and -developed OS. As of now, Lenovo gives no words if whether they would bring the S100 with to America or not.

The IdeaPad S100 a 1.33GHz Intel N435 processor. It’s a 10.1-inch netbook that comes with a 1024×600 pixels resolution, 160GB of HDD, 5,400 RPM hard drive, 1GB of RAM and 6 to 7 hours of battery life.

Way back in 2010, the MeeGo system was worked on by Intel and Nokia. The two large companies decided to team up in order to fulfill Intel’s plan of entering into the mobile market and get Nokia’s support for open platforms. Unfortunately, Nokia then signed a new partnership with Windows Phone 7, leaving Intel alone and in search for new partners for the Meego OS.

The IdeaPad S100 is the second MeeGo-based netbook that has been released in the market recently. Perhaps there are a lot of Meego-based devices that have been introduced lately — including the Samsung N100 that was kicked off in India last month, ASUS netbook, and the tablet from RedFlag, which goes on sale in May.

The S100 is available in black, red and blue colors. Consumers can purchase it for the of 180 euros.
