Starcraft 2 Timed Demo, Replaced with Starter Edition

Blizzard heeds the gamers' call and replaces Starcraft 2's timed demo with an unlimited Starter Edition.
Startcraft 2’s demo version enables gamers to experience the entire game in a limited time, and forces them to purchase the title in order to continue. However, Blizzard recently replaced the timed demo with the Starter Edition.
The Starter Edition does not have a time limit, that’s why players can try Starcraft 2 in their own volition. Still, it requires an active Internet connection in order to access Battlenet.com. The website then provides the following features:
* The first four missions from the Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty campaign
* The first two challenges: Tactical Command and Covert Ops
* Access to the terran race in Custom Games and Single-Player vs. AI
* Access to four custom maps, with selection rotating over time
The four custom maps are currently set at Xel’Naga Caverns, Shattered Temple, Discord IV and High Orbit. In addition to this, all campaign progress and achievements earned during the demo will be available to the full game upon purchase, since the information will be stored in a gamer’s Battlenet.com account.
The Starter Edition comes before the second part of Starcraft 2’s trilogy — the Heart of Swarm. The said installment is expected for a mid-2012 release. Starcraft 2 Starter Edition is now available for download and Battlenet.com.
