Nintendo 3DS Gets Second Highest Sales Record
Japanese 3DS sales strike 384,000 units last month; doubles the device's July total.
The 3DS price drop last month has indeed worked out favorably for the Nintendo company. As revealed by Enterbrain, there are over 384,000 handheld units that were sold in Japan last August — which is 2.6 times the amount of devices being sold in July.
This is considered to be the second best-performing month for the Nintendo 3DS. Last March, when the handheld was first launched, the company was able to market more than 430,000 units.
In August 11, the 3DS faced a price cut-off of ¥10,000 to ¥15,000. The price drop was reported several weeks earlier, which results to an expected sales decrease. After the drop, the units were then reported to have the second highest sales record since its launching (February 26 launch not included).
