The Lion King Goes 3D

Disney's original classic film, The Lion King, is now coming to 3D!
Disney will be bringing one of its popular classic movies into 3D! A re-release of the Lion King was released yesterday, September 16, with Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D launching on the 4th of October.
The original movie that was released way back in 1994 has been considered to be the most successful animated film of all time. It has produced two direct-to-video sequels, a Tony-winning Broadway show, and a million dollar-worth of merchandise.
This is not the first time that Disney has re-released its classic films using the 3D technology. In October 2009, they launched the Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in 3D with a limited theater viewing before bringing both movies to Blu-Ray. According to the company, they are now planning to produce more animated films using the new technology (3D) — perhaps this decision was made after seeing the success of Avatar.
Unlike Toy Story and Toy Story 2, The Lion King is not a computer-generated movie. Therefore, its 3D output will be going to become more impressive. Moreover, this is also not the first time for Disney to reformat the Lion King. Way back in 2003, the American film studio released the movie for IMAX screens and DVD platforms.
