On Thursday, Microsoft launched its new social network for students.
The new social network service is called So.cl and was created by Microsoft Research’s FUSE Labs division. Though it is still at a testing stage, it already available for students from University of Washington, New York University and Syracuse University. Users can login to So.cl using their Facebook accounts. An added feature of So.cl is the video parties where users can view movies and at the same time chat with friends. Microsoft said that So.cl “is an experimental research project using a minimal set of features which help combine search with the social network for the purpose of learning” and not meant to be a full-scale search engine or social network site.
