Kinect Camera Tech Allows you to Try Clothes While Shopping Online

If you are fond of buying clothes online, then this is a must-have for you.
In the recent 2012 Consumer Electronics Show, Bodymetrics CEO Suran Goonatilake presented the newest technology that lets shoppers to try on outfits without actually trying them on, dubbed as the PrimeSense. This is the same technology behind Microsoft’s $150 Kinect camera. The system created an accurate 3D model of the user and transforms it into an on-screen avatar. Then, the clothing item will be mapped with the avatar to check whether it is a perfect fit.
Goonatilake said that this technology will bring virtual shopping to a whole new level since there are still 90% people who buy clothes in traditional stores because they want to try the clothes first.
In the near future, this technology might find its way to online stores like Amazon and new models of Smart TVs are also adopting the Kinect-style cameras on its features.
However, the Bodymetrics technology has still a long way to take when it comes to adequately providing the users the feeling of clothes’ fabrics against the skin.
