George Clooney and Father Arrested for Protesting Outside Sudanese Embassy
Hollywood Actor George Clooney, his father Nick Clooney, along with other prominent political figures arrested for holding rally outside of the Sudanese embassy
After leading a protest outside the Sudanese Embassy outside Washington, actor George Clooney, his father Nick Clooney was arrested along with prominent political figures Rep. Jim Moran (Virginia), Rep. Jim McGovern (Massachusetts), former Rep. Tom Andrews (Maine), NAACP President Ben Jealous and Martin Luther King III.
Clooney, his father and the politicians, wanted to draw attention to the looming humanitarian crisis in Sudan. They were all hauled away by Secret Service Agents, handcuffed, placed in a police cab and sent to a D.C. police station.
The actor’s publicist Stan Rosenfield has told TMZ:
“They were protesting the violence committed by the government of Sudan on its own innocent men, women and children. They were demanding they allow humanitarian aid into the country before it becomes the largest humanitarian crisis in the world.”
Prior to his arrest, Clooney has released a short documentary on Sudan’s situation. As of this time, reports claim that he has already posted bail for his misdemeanor offense.View Article Source »
