Wearing Skinny Jeans May Be Bad For Your Health
Wearing super tight jeans can cause meralgia paresthetica, a disorder causing nerve damage
Nowadays, fashionistas like celebrities and ordinary women can be seen donning the skinny jeans. Unaware of the health problems that uber tight jeans can cause.
According to Dr. Karen Boyle of the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, super tight jeans can cause a nerve disorder called meralgia paresthetica. a disorder “that occurs when one of the nerves that runs in the outer part of a thigh gets compressed. The pressure on it causes symptoms of tingling, numbness and pain in the outer part of the thigh.”
Dr. Boyle adds that one womans described this disorder as a “floating sensation”. The woman was walking and felt weak and pain in her thighs. This pain increases when you wear high heels together with your tight jeans. Dr. Boyle explains, “When you wear high heels the axis of your pelvis changes and what happens is your pelvis tilts and your buttocks kind of kick out a little bit and your legs are longer looking. This is why women like to wear stilettos. But because the pelvis tilts some, it further accentuates the pressure that’s caused on those nerves. It can make the symptoms worse.”
To ease the pain doctors suggest to wear stretchable jeans or “jeggings”. Dr. Boyle also warns women to stop wearing tight jeans once you feel tingling and numbness in your legs to avoid permanent damage.View Article Source »
