NY Students Stage a “Slutty Wednesday” Protest [Video]

Stuyvesant High School students, protest their school's conservative dress code by wearing sexy clothes.
Students of New York’s Stuyvesant High School were disgusted by the school’s conservative dress code. To defy this rule, about 100 students decided to stage a protest by intentionally breaking their school’s dress standards and called it “Slutty Wednesday”.
The dress code bans girls from “exposing their shoulders, midriffs, lower backs, bras and underwear”. Lucy Greider, a 9th grade student says that she’s been taken into the office 10 times this year for violating the dress code.
Greider said:
“We work our asses off here, and school is about learning. Clothing is not important. A lot of the classrooms don’t have a/c’s and when it is 80 degrees outside and it is really hot, it’s perfectly OK to show a little skin.”
Stuyvesant High School is considered one of New York City’s top public high schools. Dress codes, particularly school uniforms are usually enforced in private schools.
According to a 2010 poll made by the National Center for Education Statistics, 57 percent of public schools enforce a dress code. While around 19 percent of public schools require school uniforms.
