McDonald’s Set To Open Its First Meat-Free Chain Branch in India

Fastfood chain, McDonald's, will open two vegetarian locations in India next year
Mcdonald’s revealed its plans to open its first meat-free branch in India, next year. The Golden Arches is set to build its two vegetarian restaurants in two locations, one at the northern Indian city of Amritsar and a second one at the city of town of Katra, which are both in close proximity of a holy site.
In respect to the Indian culture, the fast food chain are already serving vegetarian meals as a part of their regular menu. Currently, their kitchens are divided separate sections for cooking vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. They have also replaced meat-based meals with different vegetarian options such as McVeggie burgers and McSpicy Paneer sandwiches.
Their new restaurants will only be exclusively for vegetarians and will offer meals such as McAloo Tikki, a potato-based burger, and a vegetable and cheese pastry, the Pizza McPuff.
McDonald’s spokesman Rajesh Kumar Main talks about the plan to open an exclusive vegetarian branches:
“It will be the first time we have opened a vegetarian restaurant. There is a big opportunity for vegetarian restaurants [in India] as many Indians are vegetarian.”
