The 2011 Academy Award Nominees

The 2011 Oscar Nominees is here. Who among these actors and actresses will take home the golden statue?
Previously, All We Like did a guessing game on the starts who’ll bag an Oscar nomination. This time it’s the real thing: The official nominees of the Academy Awards. The King’s Speech led the monimations with 12 including best picture. Nominees for lead role for an actor and actree are granted to Colin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter, Geoffrey Rush and many more.
The nominees for best picture include Black Swan, The Fighter, Inception, The Kids Are All Right, 127 Hours, The Social Network, Toy Story 3 and Winter’s Bone.
The 83rd Annual Academy Awards, which will be hosted by James Franco and Anne Hathaway, will air live on ABC come Feb. 27.

Tokyo legislation recently passed a bill that might jeopardize the freedom of speech video games, manga, and anime producers have. The issue has been going on since the start of 2010, and this new bill just fanned the flames.
Dan Kunimitsu, a famous Japanese blogger expressed that the current legislation is not a “ban per se”, but it does limit a company to produce materials that are harmful to those under 18 years-old. Unlike in the U.S., where distributors are the ones under pressure and subject to penalty, not the producers.
What’s odd about this new act by the government is that the legislation specifically restricts anime, manga and video games but doesn’t transcend to novels, movies, or television shows. A little unfair considering that the latter are also easily accessed by minors. Tokyo government tries to calm the storm as they explain through The Mainichi Daily News, “only manga and animation that glorifies or exaggerates illegal sexual acts will be subject to the regulations, and freedom of expression will not be violated.”
