Paul McCartney to Stream Live Performance on iTunes

The former Beatle member launches his latest album with the help of Apple.
Since Apple and The Beatles bury the hatchet in 2007, the Cupertino-based company hasn’t stopped supporting the band and its surviving members. In 2010, Apple added the band’s 13 studio albums to iTunes. Currently, the company is giving its full support for the promotion of Paul McCartney’s latest endeavor. His performance at the Capitol Studios in Hollywood, CA on February 9 will be streamed on iTunes.
The album entitled Kisses on the Bottom showcases 16 songs. McCartney’s new album centered on his attempt to revive classics from the “the great American Songbook.” Four out of sixteen songs were his original compositions.
The album will hit stores on February 6 and will be available on iTunes for $9.99.

Verizon and Coinstar announce joint venture that will rival Netflix's streaming service.
Verizon and Redbox’s parent company Coinstar Inc., announced on Monday a tie up that will rival Netflix streaming content service.
The joint venture which aims to combine Redbox’s physical media rental service with streaming and movie downloads is expected to launch in the second half of 2012. Verizon holds the controlling stake with its 65 percent ownership share while Coinstar owns the rest.

Paramount becomes the first movie distributor to directly sell UltraViolet movies.
Paramount is the first to directly sell UltraViolet movies, a new ‘cloud-based’ content distribution system which allows you to watch digital copies of films using ‘multiple platforms and devices’.
This new platform was first introduced as a package deal that comes with the DVD or Blu-Ray discs but thanks to Paramount, customers can now stream the movie without having to purchase the physical format first.
Customers can now purchase movies on Paramount’s site which can be streamed and viewed live. Prices start at $13 for the standard definition and $20 for the HD version.

Hulu will soon launch more original shows, starts with political comedy show 'Battleground'.
Online-video service Hulu will soon introduce more original content as part of its efforts to create an alternative to cable television that will blur ‘the lines between the Web and TV’.
Hulu announced on Sunday that it will soon launch two original shows and 10 all-new episodes of ‘A Day in the Life’, a documentary series which debuted last year. Among its new offerings are ‘Battleground’, a half-hour political comedy about a Senatorial campaign in Wisconsin which will air sometime in February and a travelogue show from ‘Before Sunset’ director Richard Linklater.

TOSY Robotics unveiled the prototype for their MRobo Ultra Bass robot and brought along Justin Bieber. The mRobo is a torso-shaped speaker when not in motion but moves when the music is played. It has limbs, a head and a sport shade while its abdomen serves as a speaker.
Vietnam-based TOSY also presented their other innovations like the DiscoRobo and SketRobot. The SketRobot can produce images through facial recognition technology. The company is also working on the Topio 3.0, a “humanoid robot capable of playing ping-pong.”

Pop star Katy Perry bagged five awards in the recent People’s Choice Awards. She was honored as favorite female artist, for song of the year, tour headliner, favorite music video and favorite TV guest star. Even though the singer-actress was not personally present to receive the award but left a message to her fans via Twitter: “I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed!” It would have been Perry’s first public appearance after her soon-to-be ex-husband, Russell Brand, filed for divorce.

Time Warner Cable officially launches HBO Go and Max Go to its subscribers.
Four days after launching a beta trial, Time Warner Cable has officially released its new streaming service for HBO and Cinemax. HBO Go and Max Go are now available for HBO and Cinemax subscribers.
These new services give Time Warner Cable subscribers instant streaming access to its two channel’s back catalogs. HBO subscribers are offered over 1,400 shows while Max Go subscribers are given access to over 400 movies.
