Google+ Hangouts on Air was first introduced last year to a ‘limited number of users’ and was subjected to several weeks of testing from a number of hand-picked ‘content creators’.

Facebook has bought the popular photo sharing app Instagram, for a hefty amount of $1 billion. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckenberg, made the official announcement in a post in his Facebook Timeline: “I’m excited to share the news that we’ve agreed to acquire Instagram and that their talented team will be joining Facebook.”
Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom is likewise happy with the acquisition and has issued a statement in Instagram’s company blog saying: “We’re psyched to be joining Facebook and are excited to build a better Instagram for everyone.”
The sale is said to be finalized, later this quarter and will bring the nine-person staff of Instagram to Facebook’s corporate quarters.

Her Madgesty also has an official Facebook account, where she has over 9 million subscribers.

CNN is reportedly in talks to buy social media and technology news website Mashable for $200 million.
Time Warner’s CNN is said to be working on its biggest acquisition to date. Reuter’s Felix Salmon on Sunday reported from Austin’s South by Southwest conference (SXSW) that CNN is currently on talks to buy the social media and technology website Mashable for “upwards of $200 million”.
Salmon also stated that CNN will likely announce the outcome within the week or as early as Tuesday. The New York Times’ Brian Stelter also confirmed that CNN and Mashable ‘are in advanced talks that may lead to an acquisition of the social news website’.
