Windows 8 'Consumer Preview' reveals missing 'Start Button'.

Windows 8 ‘Consumer Preview’ has revealed a major change to its UI with the disappearance of the ‘Start Button’. The Start Button which was first introduced with Windows 95, is one of the operating system’s most frequently used buttons.

Previous builds have revealed that the button has been flattened to match its new Metro styling but according to some newly leaked images of the ‘Consumer Preview of Windows 8, it seems that Windows is making a bold move of not including it in its upcoming version of its OS.

Samsung and Corning Joins Forces for a Special Venture

The two companies collaborated to fuse ‘Lotus Glass’ with OLED displays.

and Corning recently announced their partnership for a new project which is the integration of the Gorilla Glass to OLED displays. The joint venture will combine Corning’s prized product, the Lotus Glass Substrate and ’s technology. However, this project will be based in South Korea. The outcome of this project will be used in different Samsung products like smartphones and televisions.

”Corning and Samsung have a long and successful partnership in the display industry, dating back nearly 40 years to the early days of television,” Corning chairman, President and CEO Wendell P. Weeks said.

“The strength of our business relationship is built on Corning’s ability to develop and make high-technology glass with the key attributes that enable Samsung’s next-generation displays,” he added.

Skype releases update for Windows client that includes full HD video calling, group screen sharing and support for Facebook audio and video calling.

Skype has released an updated version for the Windows client. Skype version 5.8 for windows, which was released on Thursday, includes a bunch of new and improved features.

Some of the cool new features are Full HD Video-Calling, a new feature which allows you to make video calls in HD quality, a Group Screen Sharing which can be used to share an entire screen or a single application window and Video-Calling to Facebook contacts which can be used to make calls, even if your friends are not on Skype. It also has a new ‘push to talk’ feature that allows the use of hotkeys to trigger the microphone, a feature that most gamers will find useful when playing multiplayer games.

NASA releases 'Blue Marble 2012', a stunning high-definition image of earth.

NASA released the latest, most accurate image of Planet Earth. The “Blue Marble 2013″ is an up-to-date high-definition image of Earth which was generated using data gathered on January 4, 2012 by the recently launched, Suomi NPP satellite.

The Suomi NPP, named after University of Wisconsin meteorologist, Verner E. Suomi, whom NASA calls “the father of satellite meteorology”, is an Earth-observing satellite that collects data from an altitude of 512 miles. It was launched on October 28 with the purpose of gathering data for ‘forecasting weather’ and further research on climate change.

In the 44 years old history of the Consumer Electronics Show, this year’s event was the biggest thing to boot. The number of attendees reached 153,000 which is up from last year’s 149,000.

The show featured 3,100 exhibitors plus 20,000 new products were presented in the show. All these occupied the 1.861 million square feet of . Out of the 153,000 attendees, 34,000 were foreign attendees.

The show gathered the big names from the business, entertainment, automotive and electronic industries.
