Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch A.K.A. MCA, Dead at 47

Adam Yauch, better known as MCA, loses his three-year battle with cancer.
Beastie Boys’ rapper Adam Yauch, also known as MCA, has passed away in his hometown, New York, after a three-year battle with cancer. MCA was diagnosed with cancer in his salivary gland back in 2009.
The Beastie Boys released this statement in their website:
“It is with great sadness that we confirm that musician, rapper, activist and director Adam “MCA” Yauch, founding member of Beastie Boys and also of the Milarepa Foundation that produced the Tibetan Freedom Concert benefits, and film production and distribution company Oscilloscope Laboratories, passed away in his native New York City this morning after a near-three-year battle with cancer. He was 47 years old.”
MCA died at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan, where he was admitted since April 14. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his demise.
